| It was a week at sea between Sydney and Hong Kong, so we found ourselves looking off the balcony for some sign of other life. |
*
| After perhaps three days we saw one ship, the big excitement. |
*
| Then we saw a few islands that were part of Papua New Guinea, and later a few islands that were part of the Phillippines. |

Our Hong Kong tour took us through a tunnel under the bay, so we didn't actually get a ride on the Star Ferry. |
*
| We took a tram up to the top of a hill with views of the city and a full fledged shopping center. |
*
| The shopping center had a McDonalds in addition to a photogenic dragon. |
*
| Our tour then took us for a ride on a sampan (Chinese junk). |
*
| We got a good view of a large floating restaurant named Jumbo.
We then went to Stanley Market. Not being shoppers, we didn't take pictures. It reminded us of the International Marketplace on Waikiki although I suspect that if you are a knowledgeable shopper, Stanley Market is much better. |

High density living in Hong Kong.
The QM2 is too big to berth in the area usually used for cruise ships. We were in the commercial area with many many container ships, which are not very interesting after you have watched them unload for a few minutes. So on the way out, we sailed past the downtown area, where the office buildings had a light show to entertain us. Sorry our camera can't capture such nighttime events. |
